For New Year’s Eve, I watched the Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee bowl game with my husband and mother-in-law. I was worried that Virginia Tech wouldn’t win and the New Year would start off sucking, but they kicked Tennessee’s butt and made me incredibly proud.
I wanted to make a Martha recipe for the game, so I looked through the January/February 2010 Everyday Food magazine and found a tempting recipe: Spicy Sausage, Bean, and Cheese Nachos. Sounds almost disgusting enough to be delicious and it was. I’m really prissy and I don’t like to handle uncooked meat – I know I need to get over myself – but I helped my husband crumble up the sausage after he took off the casing which was a tedious process.
The nachos turned out to be the hit of the night, and I’m going to definitely make them again. I’m thinking for the Super Bowl. If you don’t have the January/February 2010 Everyday Food magazine, you should really get it even if it’s just for this recipe. I didn’t take a picture – that’s what happens when you drink wine while you cook. Whoops. I’ll try to be more diligent next time.
