The first recipe I made from Martha Stewart’s Baking Handbook was Baking Powder Biscuits. It's the first recipe in the Simple Baked Goods section. I followed every step as instructed and had all the right ingredients. When I went to pat the dough in a round about one inch thick things went south. The dough wasn’t sticky enough and it started to fall apart. I stayed calm, put the dough in the freezer for a few minutes and then added a little bit more cream. It worked! The biscuits were flaky and delicious.
I’ve realized that if I want to do this project and not gain 20 pounds this year, I’ll need to exercise on a regular basis. Each biscuit contained roughly one-sixth of a stick of butter which means that I ate two-thirds of a stick of butter for breakfast on Saturday morning. That sounds pretty gross but they were so good. I couldn’t help myself.
And later in the day I made ginger cheesecake bars….I’ll post about that recipe tomorrow!
